The Phoenix Theatre: A Tragic Loss
31 MarOn Saturday night a huge fire rampaged through the The Phoenix Theatre Lewes, destroying the building and it’s precious contents. Many high profile artists who kept studios there are devastated after seeing their life’s work given up to the blaze which enveloped the building in literally minutes. Thankfully no lives were lost but sadly a space which served the Lewes community so well and which took years of effort, creativity, inspired thinking and ingenuity to establish has been destroyed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to our friends Sean O’Kane the founder of the Theatre and to the artists and makers involved with the project who must be feeling intense sadness and pain from their loss. The Phoenix Theatre will be very much missed on The Phoenix Estate.
